Skaturbanism
Skaturbanism, an innovative approach
Skaturbanism, born from collaboration between skateboarders and municipalities, aims to integrate skateboarding into the urban environment, in a sharing spirit.
Cities like Bordeaux, Malmö and Copenhagen have adopted innovative programs, seeing skateboarding as a cultural, social, economic and environmental advantage. This movement is part of circular urbanism, encouraging the sharing of existing spaces.
By promoting urban play, soft mobility and social cohesion, skaturbanism contributes to the transition to more sustainable, inclusive cities.

The city of Bordeaux as an exemple
For a long time , the city of Bordeaux was repressive towards skateboarding. Its local actors have undertaken a series of bold initiatives to promote skateboarding in its urban environment.
These efforts are reflected through mediation, valorising the promotion of skateboarding as a culture , and the development of skaturbanism. This approach aims to integrate skateboarding into certain public spaces, with small-scale developments such as street furniture or skateboard-calibrated works calibrated for the practice, and the requalification of certain spaces.
This inclusive approach is supported by a diverse community of local actors, such as professionals, artists, designers, photographers, videographers, local brands and skateshops, who contribute to the enrichment of the city's skate culture and the development of its many artistic and socio-cultural branches. Numerous academic studies are currently investigating this phenomenon.
Together, these initiatives create a connected and creative, ultra-productive ecosystem that celebrates skateboarding as an essential part of urban life in Bordeaux.
